Party Drugs - Acid or LSD
Acid is one of the street names or slang names for the drug LSD.
Other slang names for LSD include Hits, Tabs, Doses, and Trips among
others. Probably the most common slang name for LSD is acid. Acid is the
most well known and common hallucinogen. It is also a very potent mood
changing drug. This drug is manufactured from lysergic acid. Lysergic
acid is found in ergot, which is a particular type of fungus that is
known to grow on rye and also other grains. Acid is usually found on
what is commonly called blotter paper. Blotter paper is formed into
squares of a small size. These blotters can have images imprinted on
them or they can be of different colors. Acid can also be contained in
thin squares made of gelatin.
Acid is used and taken orally. The liquid and gelatin version of the
drug can be put in the eyes. The effects that acid will have on people
can be hard to predict. It depends on various factors. Some of these
factors include the personality of the user, how much was taken, the
mood of the user, the expectations of the user and also the surroundings
the user was in when you took the drug. Some of the actual short term
physical effects include increased body temperature, loss of appetite,
dilated pupils, faster heart rate, hard to sleep, tremors, and increased
blood pressure. Physical signs of the drug do not change as much as the
feelings and sensations change. Users of acid are known to have severe
mood swings. They can go from one extreme to another in a short period
of time. If enough of the drug is taken, the user can experience
hallucinations and delusions. The user's sense of self and even time
changes to something other than reality. This can cause the user to
panic and become frightened.
The long term effects of acid can be severe. Some of these include
flashbacks. Many times these will happen suddenly without warning. The
flashbacks can even occur a year after the acid was actually ingested.
Acid (or LSD) is not considered to be an addictive drug like cocaine,
heroin, and some other drugs. |
