Ice is the street term or slang form for a particular form of
methamphetamine that is pure and smokable. Ice is very addictive. Ice is
manufactured from over the counter ingredients such as cold remedies.
Also used in the manufacture of Ice is farm fertilizer, batteries, drain
opener, and brake cleaner. When you think about the ingredients that are
used to produce Ice, it really makes you wonder why some people ever
even try it in the first place. Whatever the reason, the real danger is
because it is so addictive and causes so any dangers to the user.
Meth and Ice has become a big problem in the Australia. Over time,
tactics for combating this drug epidemic have changed. At the same time,
the tactics for obtaining the ingredients to produce the drug have also
changes. Those who produce Ice are sometimes referred to as 'cooks'.
These cooks now use two new ingredients for producing Ice that wasn't
used in the past. These two new ingredients are electric pole power
transformers and salt blocks. The reason salt blocks are used is because
they contain ephedrine, which is needed to produce Ice. The transformers
are used because it can be used as a replacement for the ammonia that is
needed to produce the drug.
Ice have the appearance of crystal chunks that are clear. When Ice is
crushed, it is a powder substance that is white. In most cases, Ice is
snorted, smoked, and injected. On occasion, it is absorbed through the
rectum or swallowed.
The short term effects of Ice is similar to
cocaine. The difference is
the effects of Ice last longer than cocaine. Users of Ice many times act
erratically and violently. Some of the physical short term effects
include increased heart rate, itching sensations, trouble sleeping, loss
of appetite, and tremors among others. Long term effects included memory
loss, hallucinations, a high level of paranoia, and even coma and death. |
